Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team acquired guard Jordan Hawkins, wing Micah Peavy and future second round draft assets from the New Orleans Pelicans for guard AJ Johnson and center Taj Gibson.

Hawkins (6-5, 190) has competed in 174 games (20 starts) over three seasons and has averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.2 minutes since he was selected by New Orleans with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The 24-year-old recorded a career-high 10.8 points in 56 games for the Pelicans during the 2024-25 season.

A native of Gaithersburg, Md., Hawkins guided UConn to the 2023 NCAA championship as a sophomore and was named the West Regional Most Outstanding Player during the Huskies’ national title run. He started all 37 appearances for UConn that season and averaged 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.4 minutes en route to securing All-Big East First Team honors.Peavy (6-7, 215) appeared in 61 games (four starts) and averaged 4.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15.0 minutes last season during his rookie campaign with the Pelicans. The 25-year-old was acquired by New Orleans with the 40th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
A native of Cibolo, Tex., Peavy finished his collegiate career at Georgetown, where he led the Hoyas with 17.2 points and paced the Big East with 2.3 steals and 37.0 minutes per game during the 2024-25 season. He previously played three years with TCU after one year at Texas Tech.Johnson (6-5, 160) has appeared in 77 games (11 starts) in two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks and has averaged 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14.2 minutes after he was drafted 23rd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old Fresno, Calif., native, who was acquired by Memphis from Dallas on July 8, played professionally for the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian NBL during the 2023-24 season.

Gibson (6-9, 232) has played 1,012 games (462 starts) over 17 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets and Grizzlies and has averaged 8.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 22.9 minutes since he was selected 26th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft out of USC. The 41-year-old Brooklyn native recorded 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes in 10 games (one start) for Memphis last season.
