Memphis coach Penny Hardaway explained earlier this week during press availability that he thought some other coaches were "jealous" given the Memphis staff's makeup of NBA oriented coaches. Penny's quotes were picked up nationally as he responded to a tweet from former Texas (Houston) coach Tom Penders. (Listen to Penders discuss it Tuesday on 92.9 FM ESPN here). Combine the national conversation about Penny ignoring what "others say about him" and the Memphis staff, and a Memphis team that hadn't lost any games they were favored in, it's likely Wednesday night's result means the "haters" will double down.
Final: Tulsa 95 Memphis 79
Here's what members of the 92.9 FM ESPN Team tweeted:
Tonight was the first loss this season for the Tigers when they entered the game as a favorite. They had previously been 13-0.
— Jeffrey Wright (@JWright929espn) January 31, 2019Same as Temple game. Memphis comes out playing like garbage. Now 2/14.

— John Martin (@JohnMartin929) January 31, 2019Final: Tulsa 95, Memphis 79. Tough when senior leaders - Kyvon/Jeremiah - doing whatever they want. Combined 9-of-29/nine fouls. Six(!) turnovers for Jeremiah. Road woes continue for Memphis, which is now 2-7 away from Forum. Next step for Penny and this team: handling “success”.
