DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys have "inquired" about Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks, according to Jordan Schultz.
Schultz reports along with the Cowboys, the Eagles Packers, Jets, and Saints have called regarding Cooks.
NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports the Texans are "unlikely to trade Cooks at this time," but if they were to trade him they'd be looking for a second-round pick.
Pairing Brandin Cooks with CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup would certainly give the Cowboys a dynamic set of weapons for Dak Prescott, and help replace the loss of Amari Cooper.
The Cowboys, especially after the Cooper trade with the Browns, are in need of adding a third playmaker and in the receiving corps.
Cooks, 28, is a former 20th overall pick of the Saints in 2014. The 5'10" speedster has recorded over 1,000 yards receiving in each of his last two seasons and six of his eight NFL seasons overall. Cook averages 13.8 receiving yards per catch for his career and 9.1 yards per target.
Cooks is in the final year of his five-year, $81 million contract set to carry a 2022 cap hit of $16.2 million.
