DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys released their 2021 schedule on Wednesday night, and on paper, it seems like a very favorable draw for Mike McCarthy as he looks to right the ship in his second season as the team's new head coach.
After finishing last season with a disappointing 6-10 record and missing the playoffs for the second straight season, the Cowboys have added several pieces to their defense in an effort to improve on one of the league's worst units in 2020.
The good news for the Cowboys is the fact that they have one of the NFL's easiest schedules heading into next season.
The Cowboys' strength of schedule ranks 31st out of 32 NFL teams, according to CBS Sports, with only the rival Eagles below them in the rankings.
Dallas will face teams with a combined record of 122-148-1 and a combined winning percentage of .452 from 2020.
Notable dates on the schedule include the season-opener on Thursday Night Football vs Tom Brady and the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. Dallas also has a road date with the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. The slate also includes a Thanksgiving matchup vs the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Cowboys' schedule ends with five divisional games over the last six weeks of the season.
