Jerry Rice isn't buying it. When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan earlier this week that he believed the 49ers were the favorites to win the Super Bowl, Rice felt something was a little off.
“Jerry Jones said that we’re probably the number one contender for the Super Bowl and I said that’s a setup. I want the Niners to know this, hey look, statement night is Sunday night," Rice said on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.
Rice added: "We’re probably going to face this team maybe down the road, if it’s not Dallas, it’s going to be Philadelphia. Sunday Night Football is statement night, and it’s a great opportunity for those guys to go out and showcase their abilities and show what they can do. So, let’s go do this.”
Rice knows a thing or two about the 49ers/Cowboys rivalry having faced them in three consecutive NFC Championship games during the 1992-94 seasons.
The 49ers will look to improve to 5-0 at Levi's Stadium on Sunday night after eliminating the Cowboys in the playoffs in each of the last two years.
