  • Miami takes the top spot. The 8–0 Hurricanes lead the first College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday, November 3, followed by Georgia, Utah and Indiana. It’s Miami’s first No. 1 CFP ranking.

  • The rest of the top 12: Alabama at No. 5, Kentucky No. 6, Texas No. 7, UCLA No. 8, BYU No. 9, Ole Miss No. 10, Notre Dame No. 11 and Ohio State No. 12.
  • Alabama’s placement brings the biggest SEC debate. The 6–2 Crimson Tide sits fifth despite losing to Tennessee, which has the same record but opens eight spots lower at No. 13. That gap gives Vols fans plenty to question.
  • Kentucky and Utah are major stories. The Wildcats’ No. 6 ranking and the Utes’ No. 3 ranking are program bests. Meanwhile, unbeaten UCLA opens eighth, behind three teams with two losses.
  • Notre Dame has an immediate opportunity. The 7–1 Irish open 11th with No. 1 Miami up next. A win would dramatically strengthen their position; a loss would leave them facing a much tighter path.
  • The SEC dominates the list: Ten teams are ranked, including LSU at No. 14 and Missouri at No. 18. The ACC has only Miami and No. 16 Wake Forest.
  • Memphis is unranked. Boise State, at No. 25, is the only ranked team from outside the four major conferences—an important early benchmark for the Tigers’ playoff hopes.
  • Saturday could scramble everything: Miami–Notre Dame, BYU–Utah, Alabama–LSU and Kentucky–Tennessee headline the playoff stakes. The next rankings arrive Tuesday, November 10, around 8 p.m. on 92.9 FM ESPN.
