Lately everyone around NBA circles has been "laying it on thick" when describing Ja Morant's game, and deservedly so. Monday was no exception. ESPN NBA Writer Kevin Arnovitz joined the Jason & John Show on Monday (12/21/2020) and said he thinks Morant has "an enormous ceiling".
Every team has a series of schemes and sets they run, and Arnovitz presumes that teams will have to plan differently for the pace of Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies offense.
As for a potential playoff run, Arnovitz thinks it's possible. "They (the Grizzlies) can surprise. Phoenix decided that they want to win now. The Memphis Grizzlies are being patient, as they should. I respect what Phoenix is doing. (Devin Booker) is (far) along," Arnovitz said.
Between Utah, Denver, the LA teams, Portland, and Dallas, Arnovitz thinks Memphis is in that "scrum" for a playoff "play-in" position later on in the 2020-21 season. "7 to 10 (playoff position) is a really good goal (for the Grizzlies). That would be a noble goal."
The Memphis Grizzlies open the 2020-21 season Wednesday (12/23) at FedExForum. Pregame at 6:30 p.m. with Jessica Benson on 92.9 FM ESPN. Tip and play-by-play with Eric Hasseltine on 92.9FM ESPN.
