The Memphis Grizzlies dropped their second game of the Salt Lake City Summer League on Monday night, falling 109-100 to the Utah Jazz despite another encouraging performance from rookie Cameron Boozer.
Eric Hasseltine joined Jeffrey Wright on 92.9 FM ESPN on Tuesday (7/7) to get a Grizzlies update following their second preseason game in Utah. AUDIO:
Memphis battled throughout the contest but struggled to contain the Jazz offense, which was orchestrated by No. 2 overall pick Darryn Peterson. Peterson finished with 25 points and 12 assists, helping Utah improve to 2-0 in the event while the Grizzlies slipped to 1-1.
Boozer continued to flash the all-around game that made him the third overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft. The rookie forward showed poise on both ends of the floor, displaying his passing ability and rebounding instincts while gaining valuable experience against another elite draft class.
While the final score wasn't what Memphis wanted, Summer League is about player development, and the Grizzlies once again saw positive contributions from several young players fighting for roster spots and two-way contracts. Memphis remained competitive into the fourth quarter before Utah pulled away with timely shooting and crisp ball movement.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back in their Summer League finale before shifting their attention to the NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas, where the team's young core will have additional opportunities to build chemistry and continue its development.
