  • A strong opening night: Memphis began the preseason Monday, October 5, with a 132–123 road victory over the Hawks at State Farm Arena.
  • The second quarter changed everything: Trailing 35–32 after one, the Grizzlies exploded for 49 second-quarter points to take an 81–61 halftime lead. Atlanta rallied after the break, but Memphis held on.
  • GG Jackson supplied the scoring punch: Jackson led Memphis with 14 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep—an encouraging start as he competes for rotation minutes.
  • Cam Boozer contributed across the board: The rookie finished with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 18 minutes. His passing gave Memphis another way to create offense.
  • Jaylen Wells found his range: Wells knocked down four of six three-point attempts and scored 12 points in 17 minutes. Ty Jerome added 12 points and five assists in just 15 minutes.
  • The ball movement stood out: Memphis recorded 32 assists and made 18 three-pointers. Cedric Coward added nine points, five rebounds and four assists, helping keep the offense moving.
  • Still plenty to clean up: The Grizzlies committed 18 turnovers and allowed Atlanta 14 offensive rebounds. The shooting was encouraging; taking care of the ball and finishing defensive possessions remain areas to improve.
  • An injury to monitor: Isaiah Stewart exited with an ankle injury and was ruled out. Zach Edey did not play.
