The Memphis Grizzlies closed out their 2025–26 home schedule Monday night with a 142-126 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a result that—while tough on the surface, quietly aligns with the franchise’s long-term draft positioning goals. Memphis jumped out to a strong start, leading 36-24 after one quarter, but Cleveland’s explosive 44-point second quarter flipped the game for good.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies delivered an offensive showcase, knocking down 29 three-pointers to tie an NBA single-game record, a sign of development from younger and rotational players getting extended run late in the season.

Cleveland countered with balance and efficiency, led by Evan Mobley’s 24 points and Dennis Schroder’s 22 points and 11 assists, pulling away in the second half.

For Memphis, the bigger picture remains clear: losses like this improve lottery odds and inch the franchise closer to a higher draft pick. The Grizzlies now hit the road for their next game Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in Denver, live on 92.9 FM ESPN.
