Ja Morant has a chance to be the face of the NBA. It seems undeniable. Kenny Smith from "Inside the NBA" on TNT and Gabe Kuhn from 92.9 FM ESPN discussed Morant's opportunities and acknowledged he can win scoring titles and more, but it takes more than that to stay in the league and be a success.
Kenny Smith told Kuhn on Thursday 10/19 during his interview on 92.9 FM ESPN, "Champions do daily what everyone else does occasionally. Do you want to be a champion or do you want to do something occasionally?"
Here's the full interview where Gabe Kuhn and Kenny Smith discussed Ja, Memphis, and went through the most recent NBA headlines:
Smith added, "If you come early everyday... associate with the right people everyday. You can be a champion."
Smith told the Gabe Kuhn Show he's seen this all before, what Morant has experienced. "What you're doing (Morant), is not new. There are people who have had incidents in their life. That's not new. So don't feel that weight of the world."
Morant is practicing and traveling with the Memphis Grizzlies while suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season.
The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday (10/20) on 92.9 FM ESPN at 7:00 p.m.
