Memphis used another late-game 3-pointer from Jahvon Quinerly for the win Sunday against a strong SMU team. Final: #15 Memphis 62 SMU 59
Quinerly was one of three Memphis players who scored in double-figures. He had 11 points Sunday afternoon. David Jones dropped in 17 points to go along with his 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Jaykwon Walton absorbed some of the load for Memphis with 10 points. The Tigers were playing without the injured Caleb Mills.
SMU's net-rating was actually higher than Memphis going into the game, but Memphis found a way despite being out-rebounded by the Mustangs 43-38. SMU suffered from something Memphis has in the past, a bloated rotation which produced just one double-digit scorer in Tyreek Smith. Smith finished with 12 points off the bench for SMU.
Next game: #15 Memphis hosts UTSA on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at FedExForum on ESPN+
