92.9 FM ESPN is covering the breaking news that the Fred Smith family and FedExForum are donating $50-Million in matching funds for the University of Memphis to potentially acquire and renovate Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium per Sam Hardiman/Daily Memphian. There's more to it than just Fred's donation, including matching funds to be raised by the University of Memphis and another $120-Million from the State of Tennessee. But this gets the ball rolling towards not only a renovated slick Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The deal would also clarify what needs to be done for the Memphis Grizzlies.
