Four-star standout Fred Smith Jr. is staying home, as the Briarcrest Christian School star officially takes his talents to the University of Memphis. A two-time Tennessee Mr. Basketball winner and state champion, Smith has been one of the most dominant and decorated players in the state, combining physicality, skill, and a high basketball IQ. At 6-foot-6 with a strong frame and versatile game, he’s a matchup problem who can score, facilitate, and control tempo from multiple spots on the floor. His decision ultimately came down to relationships—especially with head coach Penny Hardaway—and a deep-rooted belief in representing his hometown.
