Tigers Set Home-and-Home with Texas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men’s basketball announced Friday a home-and-home series with Texas, beginning next season. The Tigers will travel to Austin on Dec. 16, 2026, with the return game set for the 2027-28 season in Memphis.

The programs have met five times since the series began in 1965, with Texas holding a 4-1 edge. The last matchup includes one of the most memorable postseason games in Memphis.

This will mark the third home-and-home agreement between the two programs, which previously squared off in 1972-73 and 2005-06. Memphis is 1-1 all-time in Austin and 0-3 against Texas in games played in Memphis.

The Tigers’ most recent trip to Austin came on Jan. 6, 2005, when Darius Washington scored 23 points in a 74-67 loss. Texas last visited Memphis on Jan. 2, 2006.
