Quinerly Named to AAC Weekly Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas – University of Memphis point guard Jahvon Quinerly has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday afternoon. It is the first in-season honor for Quinerly and the fourth for the Tigers as a team.

The Hackensack, New Jersey product led Memphis to a 79-77 win over 13th-ranked Clemson Saturday afternoon in FedExForum, improving the Tigers to 8-2 this season.

Quinerly dropped 17 points and dished a team-high six assists with three steals in 33 minutes against the previously unbeaten Tigers. He did much of his work in a second-half comeback with 10 points and four dimes in the final 20 minutes to rally Memphis.

The fifth-year senior is second on the team in scoring (13.7) and paces the Tigers with 4.9 assists each time out.

Quinerly and the Tigers found themselves ranked in the AP Poll for the first time this season at No. 23.

Memphis now has its eyes set on a third-straight ranked opponent when No. 22 Virginia comes to town Tuesday for a 6 p.m. showdown on ESPN2 inside FedExForum.

It will be the first ranked-versus-ranked matchup inside FedExForum since March 8, 2014 when the Tigers took on SMU.
