In a thrilling quarterfinal match of the American Athletic Conference tournament, the No. 16 Memphis Tigers edged out the Wichita State Shockers 83-80 on Friday (3/14) in Fort Worth. Memphis's PJ Haggerty delivered a standout performance, scoring 42 points on 16-for-25 shooting. Teammate Dain Dainja added 18 points. Wichita State's Bijan Cortes led his team with 19 points, while Xavier Bell contributed 18.
The Shockers started strong, leading 20-10 early on, but Memphis rallied to tie the game 39-39 at halftime. The Tigers dominated the paint with a 38-18 advantage and outrebounded the Shockers 42-29. Despite a late push from Wichita State, Memphis maintained their lead, securing the win and advancing to the semifinals to face Tulane at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN 2.
