ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt announced that pitcher Jack Flaherty will be starting on Friday. It will be his first appearance since May 31.
In a game against the Dodgers he suffered an injury while taking swing. He won't be swinging Friday with St. Louis in Kansas City to face the Royals.
Shildt said Flaherty will be a "full go" on the mound. He allowed four earned runs in nine innings across three rehab starts in the minors.
Flaherty is 8-1 with a 2.90 ERA in 11 starts this season.
St. Louis has 51 games left on the schedule and are currently 11 games out of first place in the NL Central and 8.5 games back in the Wild Card.
