ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One of the great bromances in Major League Baseball history is going to get even better this offseason. We've recently learned that Adam Wainwright is heading down to Puerto Rico this Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with Yadier Molina.
The 40-year-old pitcher and 39-year-old catcher have spent nearly two decades together with the St. Louis Cardinals. They've been part of multiple World Series, went to free agency and returned to St. Louis in the same offseason and have started in 304 games together – the 4th-most of any battery in MLB history.
But this offseason appears to be a new step in their relationship that has blossomed in front of Cardinals nation. Wainwright joined the Toeing the Slab podcast with former MLB pitcher David Cone and made his offseason vacation plans public.
"I'm actually going to his house for Thanksgiving," Wainwright says. "We're going to spend Thanksgiving together in Puerto Rico. I can't wait to see what Puerto Rican Thanksgiving is like, but I'm very excited about it. And we're gonna have a good time. He's a great friend of mine."

Also in the interview, Wainwright admitted that his career wouldn't be as successful if not for Molina's talents behind the plate. He says, although he's very biased, that Molina is the greatest defensive catcher of all time.
But one thing that Wainwright says he's helped Molina with are his emotions especially off the field.
"He's very emotional sometimes about things and I have to sometimes say, 'Hey, let's take it easy. Let's calm down a little.' And that's my role," Wainwright says. "I think I've got job security with the Cardinals becuase I'm kinda like his caddie and he's kinda like my caddie. We work well together."
Next year will be the last for Molina and Wainwright together. The catcher has already said he's retiring after the 2022 season and although Wainwright wouldn't make the same declaration, he did say it's "very, very likely" his last as well.
