According to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, the Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Julio Jones are getting close to a new deal.
My understanding is the Falcons and Jones are closing in on a deal that would pay him $20 million a year over a four- or five-year contract extension. He would get anywhere from $50 million to $60 million in new guarantees, one source told me.
According to Spotrac, Jones has the seventh highest contract among NFL receivers based on total contract value:
- Odell Beckham Jr. (five-year, $90 million)
- Mike Evans (five-year, $82.5 million)
- DeAndre Hopkins (five-year, $81 million)
- Brandin Cooks (five-year, $81 million)
- Jarvis Landry (five-year, $75.5 million)
- Stefon Diggs (five-year, $72 million)
- Julio Jones (five-year, $71.3 million)
Neither the Falcons nor Jones himself have announced any news or verified details of the negotiations.
