Eales: Can't afford anymore slip-ups

Atlanta United president Darren Eales joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the disappointing start to the MLS season in D.C., and to give us a preview of the match Wednesday night with Monterrey.

Eales talked about the team’s performance on Sunday night.

“It was disappointing wasn’t it, at least it was half as bad as the way we opened last year,” said Eales. “It was awful weather, they’re a good team and hopefully it’s something we learn from and bounce back from.”

Eales told the guys what challenges await them tomorrow night.

“They’re the number one team in Mexico, they spend the most on their players,” said Eales. “I think they’ve never lost to an American team. So we need to just get some kind of result to bring back to Mercedes Benz for next week.”

When asked about how the team rebounds after a loss in D.C.

“We’ve got to pick up points in the league, we can’t afford anymore slip-ups,” said Eales. “We dug ourselves a hole in the first round of champions league, so as long as we can get some type of result tomorrow and give ourselves a chance next week.”
