As Spring Training continues to roll on, our Atlanta Braves are still searching for a fifth starter for their pitching rotation. Kyle Wright has become the favorite with a strong start to his spring, but Touki Toussaint has started to close the gap.
Carl Dukes talked about how strong Toussaint’s last two outings have been.
“Touki Toussaint in his last two innings has gone 7 inning pitched, [allowed> two hits, one walk, eight strikeouts and zero runs against the Tigers and Pirates," Dukes said. “We have a lot of depth right now at the pitching spot. The problem is you need guys to define themselves, because we might be without Folty for a few weeks to start the season.”
It’s just one scouting report, but it comes from an interesting source: I asked third baseman Lucas Erceg in Milwaukee camp for the two best pitchers he saw last year. Touki Toussaint was nastiest. Kyle Wright was the pitcheriest.

March 11, 2019 Mike Bell said he still thinks that Wright is ahead of Touki for the fifth starter spot.
“I think Kyle Wright has a leg up on Touki right now," Bell said. “I still want them to go out and get a Gio Gonzalez. I would say Wright over Touki right now.”
