Atlanta United got off to a winning start in MLS play with a 2-1 road victory against Nashville, however the result came with a heavy cost, the health of Josef Martinez.
Martinez was subbed off in the 2nd half with an apparent right leg injury (UPDATE: torn ACL) that has United fans very concerned about when he could return.
Adam Jahn came on as a sub for him in the 69th minute and is the best option of players currently on the roster as a direct replacement.
United also does have an international roster spot still available if they want to bring in a new player to replace Martinez.
Manager Frank de Boer could also adjust the formation and just use Barco and Pity up top in some alignment.
The team annouced in a release that Martinez will undergo surgery on a date to be determined to begin the rehabilitation process.
