There is no time like the present for Sean Newcomb.
If Newcomb is going to do anything with the Atlanta Braves for the foreseeable future, he needs to show he can be a part of the rotation this spring.
Newcomb was relegated to a long reliever role last year after only starting four games. Even in the bullpen, Newcomb struggled with walks and frequently got behind in the count to batters.
Now is the time for Newcomb to grab a starting spot before the likes of Ian Anderson or Bryce Wilson figure things out in Triple A.
Jon Chuckery says Newcomb will have an even better shot now that Cole Hamels will not be available to start the season for the Braves.
