Jason Longshore joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the United’s loss on Friday night to LAFC, and why did Frank de Boer take out Pity Martinez?

When asked about why they have defensive lapses during games.

“I don’t think anyone has an answer.” Longshore said “They have to find out a way to right the ship when things are starting to get out of hand. You have to take the air out of the ball a little bit, you have to take control, the fourth goal is the one that cost you a point and it’s the worst one you give up because you were flat and your central midfield let you down.”

Jason told the guys LAFC wear teams down.

“That’s what they do.” Longshore said “You come into this game you really had nothing to lose, you’re playing a team that has dropped two goals all year at home, they really wear you down. They make you lose your focus, they force you into mistakes, and what’s frustrating is when you know it’s coming.”

Longshore talked about why de Boer took Pity out when he did.

“The idea was to get Barco thirty minutes here.” Longshore said “When you get to that point in the match, and it feels like it’s going in Atlanta United’s way, you have to make a decision on what you’re going to do. de Boer said that the only person he thought he could take out in that moment was Pity Martinez to get Barco some time, LAFC dominated the middle of the field, Barco wasn’t going to come in and defend in the middle.”
