NFL Insider for the NFL Network Ian Rapoport joined Dukes and Bell on Radio Row at Super Bowl 53. Rapoport on how many phones he has, “I only have one phone because I believe you only need on phone to do this job.” Rapoport continued, “You need one phone and an extra little device. You get the imessage up on the computer you can text like that and do other things with your phone.”
Rapoport about weather being a factor at Super Bowls in Atlanta, “I was nervous from a logistical standpoint for the weather.” Rapoport told Dukes and Bell, "Atlanta has obviously prepared and if we got snow yesterday it would have been the city’s fault even though it’s really not their fault just like it wasn’t last time.”
Raport on Roger Goodell’s comments about the non-call in the NFC Championship game, “There’s nothing to give and to me that’s the main problem, I don’t need Roger Goodell to tell me it was a bad call.” Rapoport said, “Now that he has talked about it what do Saints fans really want? I mean there is nothing else to say about it.”
When asked about how to fix situations like what happened in New Orleans Rapoport replied, “We all watch the broadcast, I think the officiating has been good, it’s just the technology is so good that we all know when they blow a call.”
Rapoport continued, “So I think we need a person who knows how to officiate to make a call. The people who think that Goodell isn’t mad are just wrong, this is a really bad thing but he can’t just make a new rule, there are coaches and GM’s on the competition committee and they vet things like this really well.”
