Atlanta United Color Analyst Jason Longshore joined Andy Bunker to talk about The 5 Stripes 3-0 loss in the first leg of their CONCACAF Quarterfinal match-up.

Longshore on the loss to Monterrey Wednesday night, “Monterrey is a team that spends more money on their team than Atlanta United because there is no salary cap or designated player rules and their owners are committed. So going down to Monterrey and losing is not a shock but when it was 1-0 in the 75th minute I felt pretty good about where we were at.”

Longshore on Atlanta United’s defense against Monterrey, “They played very well for long stretches. Miles Robinson did a very good job. I thought Mikey Ambrose played good as well.”

Longshore on Pity Martinez, “He is someone who is still getting used to this team and used to the style of play in the MLS and CONCACAF. He didn’t win the South American Player of the Year award by mistake.”

Longshore on what is fair when it comes to criticism of Frank de Boer, “Substitutions. I thought at halftime you could see Tito Villalba come in.”

Longshore on patience, “You should be patient because you have a trophy in the trophy case. The fact that this team brought in Pity (Martinez) and their commitment to CONCACAF means they are taking things seriously.”
