John Fricke and Hugh Douglas reacted to the NFL Owners voting 31-1 to expand replay to include making offensive and defensive pass interference calls.
Douglas said, “I’m not sure how to feel about this and I am still trying to process it. I wonder how coaches are going to use this. Is this going to be used strategically or anytime you feel like it.”
Fricke, “The Saints stomped their feet like children and got their way.” Fricke went on to explain that the rule is simply adding to reviewable calls in the first 28 minutes of each half and will be included with the two challenge calls each team gets.
Douglas said, “There were a lot of conversations behind closed doors when it came to this one, for 31 teams to be in lock-step.”
Fricke responded, “This is probably more of a PR problem than a game problem.”
Douglas went on to say that, you could change a call on any play on any play any given Sunday.
