The 2026 NFL Draft is less than 10 days away, and even though there’s a strong possibility the Atlanta Falcons could trade back from the 48th overall pick to acquire more draft picks, as it currently stands the Falcons only have five draft picks in the entire ‘26 draft and their first pick sits at 48, so earlier today The Morning Shift talked about how the Falcons need an immediate impact player at 48 and not a player who is going to be a project.
“If they stay right there and they don’t move and they don’t gain more draft picks the second and third round need to be starters.” Beau Morgan said
A normal rule of thumb for any team in the NFL Draft is that your first, second, and third round picks need to be either immediate or at least second year starters, and with the Falcons only having five draft picks, for now, in this year’s draft Falcons General Manager Ian Cunningham can’t afford to draft any players in the early rounds that won’t make an immediate impact.
