“Well they’re both still out there,” Heyman said. “Keuchel I’ve got six teams on him, Kimbrel a little bit more of a mystery, but the teams in need, the Phillies and Braves among them. But you suspect with the draft pick gone away we will have some kind of deal this week.
Heyman did confirm that the Braves are talking to BOTH free-agent pitchers.
The Braves are talking to BOTH Craig Kimbrel AND Dallas Keuchel, @JonHeyman told @MikeBellATL & @putemupcdukes. He doesn't, however, think they'll sign both.
— 92.9 The Game (@929TheGame) June 4, 2019Heyman said the Phillies are definitely in need of pitching help, but the Braves need help as well.
“Yeah, I don’t want to say most likely,” Heyman said. “But they might be the most in need. They’re on a bit of a slide on the west coast. They might need a lift and nowhere near that luxury tax right now. There are several teams in need including the Braves, who I think could need a lift with the pitching staff.
When asked about the Braves' draft pick of Shea Langeliers.
“I’ve heard his defense was terrific,” Heyman said. “In terms of defense what you hear is a gold glove type caliber defender behind the plate. If they can solidify their catching for years to come that would be a big deal for them.”
