Houston Astros color commentator Geoff Blum, who played 14 years in Major League Baseball, joined John Fricke and Hugh Douglas Saturday and shared his thoughts on Dallas Keuchel, the Braves newest starter.
- "You'll get a guy that's competitive. Keuchel won't blow your doors off as far as velocity, but when he's going well he'll have a sinking fastball and pitching in a bigger ballpark, a lot of double-play balls"
- "When he won the Cy Young he was pitching 88-90 with movement. He's got a great slider to both sides of the plate, and he's fearless coming inside with his fastball."
- "He'll come in and solidify the rotation. In order to get outs without radar gun stuff you have to have a great mentality and poise. Maybe not vocally, but he'll go out and lead by example."
- "We've seen flashes of brilliance, but you have hiccups when the expectation level is so high. It's okay to fail because failure can motivate."
