The Atlanta Braves got the win Wednesday night, but once again the bullpen put the game in question. Is manager Brian Snitker pulling the starters too early?
Julio Teheran had a strong outing giving up only one run in five innings, but was pulled after only 91 pitches.
Carl Dukes said it’s too early in the season to start taxing the bullpen.
“For the two starts that he has had, he’s pitched really well,” Dukes said. “When he’s been taken out the next inning the bullpen has given up five runs over his two starts. It’s a long season we don’t need to be in the habit of pulling guys when they’re pitching well and then tax our bullpen.”
Mike Bell talked about the Cubs bullpen being worse than the Braves.
“Teheran strikes out the side last night and then they pulled him,” Bell said. “The worst part is Venters comes in and walks the first guy he faces. The only saving grace was the Cubs bullpen being a disaster."
