
While the Atlanta Braves remain 4 1/2-games up in the NL East, there are still glaring problems when it comes to the club's pitching.
Bryse Wilson was called up to replace Mike Foltynewicz on Thursday against the Cubs. Folty was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to work out the kinks that have been plaguing him this season.
However, it wasn't a great second start for Wilson. He allowed six runs, four of them earned, on six hits in only 4 1/3-innings of work.
The Braves bullpen has been performing well as of late but the starting rotation has taken a major step back. Starters hold a 6.17 ERA since May 28.
"So much of the rebuild has been built around investing in pitchers, drafting pitchers and just trying to get as many young, talented arms in the farm system as possible," Andy Bunker said. "And yet, here we stand what's the problem? Pitching.
