Despite taking three sacks and being hit eight times, Matt Ryan looked "100 percent" ready for season on Thursday night.

"How great is No. 2?" Randy McMichael of the Midday Show asked. "He stood in there and he was big. He played as well as he could under those circumstances."

But the question is, why keep him in the game if he's continuing to get beat up?

"Given that it worked out, that Matt Ryan is upright and walking today and is not injured, it was kind of nice to see what Matt Ryan did last night," Andy Bunker added.

"To have to deal with all that nonsense and all of the pressure that he was under and all the hits he was taking and still play beautifully. He played perfect football last night."

Ryan played four series, which was most of the first half, and continued to play even after center Alex Mack was replaced by Wes Schweitzer.

Just so we’re clear....Matt Ryan is in the game with Wes Schweitzer playing center....by choice. Seems silly.

"That's wreckless to me," Andy Bunker said. "That's a wreckless decision by Dan Quinn."

Ryan ended his night going 10/14 with 118 yards.

Here's what Twitter had to say about leaving Ryan in the game:

If Matt Ryan is out there in the next series, suit me up. I've got my bracelet on.

What’s the point of Matt Ryan getting his ass kicked tonight? This is dumb.

Matt Ryan was 7-for-8 for 67 yards when he wasn't getting dismembered.

Matt Ryan should win the MVP award this year just from that first half alone. #NYJvsATL

Why in God’s name is Matt Ryan still in a preseason game with 5:30 left in the second quarter?
