With the debacle yesterday in Philadelphia with the Braves bullpen giving up seven runs in only three full innings of work the guys talked about who do you trust in the bullpen and more importantly how do you fix it?
Carl told us he had a possible fix for the pen.
“I would ask the question who do you trust?” Dukes said “ Minter when he gets back, Vizcaino, and O’Day? Right now you can't tell me these are three guys that you trust coming out of the bullpen. Major League baseball set a record of innings pitched in relief, if your bullpen isn’t a strength you’re in trouble, the one way I think you can fix this is use some of the young guys that will eventually be starters.”
Mike doesn’t blame GM Alex Anthopoulos for this.
“Three earned runs from Carle, four earned runs from Jackson.” Bell said “This is the problem, the reality of this is unless our young pitchers are going to go seven innings we’re going to see more of this. I don’t put this on Anthopoulos, I feel he’s battling this with one hand tied behind his back.”
