Wednesday night history was made in the Hawks-Rockets game as Trae Young and James Harden both had 40-point triple-doubles. The guys on Dukes & Bell talked about Young's performance and why the Hawks may have won the Luka Doncic trade.
Carl said Young has legitimized himself with his play this year.
“Is there anybody in Atlanta still doubting that Trae Young is a bona fide superstar? And if you are, I don’t know where you’ve been living, maybe under a rock, maybe you haven’t watched any games,” Dukes said. “Last night Trae had 42 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists. That’s a triple double, and last night history was made because the beard, James Harden for the Rockets, who ultimately won the game, had a 40-point triple-double.
"Trae basically was going bucket-for-bucket with Harden. He was showing you everything that he’s got. I’d like to see some more wins as well, but Trae is a superstar and he’s legitimizing himself night in and night out. He’s going to be in an All-Star Game. He might be the leading vote getter for guards in the Eastern Conference when it’s all said and done. He was leading last week. If you’re not on this, and you’re not backing it that this is the piece we’re going to bid around. It’s time to get on board.”
Mike talked about the fact that both teams can win the trade, but there’s a way the Hawks can outright win it.
“Everybody is always bringing this back to Luka Doncic versus Trae Young. Why can’t both teams be winners?” Bell asked. “If Cam Reddish becomes the guy, might not happen this year, might not happen next year, but if Cam Reddish becomes that guy then we win that trade if we’re going to the conference finals every year.”
