92.9 Braves insider joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the Braves moves at the deadline, Luke Jackson’s future, and Josh Donaldson’s contribution to the team.

Patrick talked about the energy the team has after the deadline.

“There was a definite energy.” Patrick said “The troops are getting reinforcements, it’s time to make a charge as the end of the season is approaching. These trades were necessary not just for on the field, but you needed this energy into the team to give them the boost they need to win the division and for the playoffs.”

When asked about Luke Jackson’s future in the bullpen.

“He’s out of options so he will stick with the club.” Patrick said “He’s had his struggles for sure, but he’s also had his good moments, these new guys will help with the depth of the bullpen, you look at Luke Jackson he’s had 10 more appearances than any other Braves pitcher, so you’re seeing him wear down. Also he was never supposed to be the team’s closer to begin with, having him in the seventh inning will be a spot that suits him.”

Joe said Donaldson’s work off the field is what makes him great.

“It’s surprising, Max Fried said last night he didn’t think he would be this good with his glove.” Patrick said “He works so hard, he told us this is what he studies for, he works at every detail in the game, you’ve seen him physically come around as well, he’s been one of the Braves best players this season. Ever since he got brushed back by Joe Musgrove a few months ago he’s been on fire for this team.”
