Wednesday night in the Braves' 29-9 victory over the Miami Marlins, outfielder Adam Duvall clubbed three home runs and nine RBI.
This was the second time in eight days that he smacked a trio of bombs in the same game. In the month of September in nine games Duvall is hitting .353 with eight homers and 16 RBI.
Duvall has generally been used as a platoon outfielder, but his performance this season might be placing him into a different discussion. Can he can be a every-day starting outfielder for the Braves?
Adam Duvall was an All-Star in 2016 with the Cincinnati Reds and has found that form again after a big season in Triple-A last year.
John and Hugh talk about Duvall's resurgence and where he could fit into the Braves' future plans.
For the last two or so years there's been this fantasy for Braves fans of an outfield consisting of Drew Waters, Christian Pache, and Ronald Acuña Jr. But Duvall's performance has to have some of those fans wondering if the Waters-Pache-Acuña outfield is actually the best one the Braves could put out there.
Of course if the National League adopts the DH that's another possible spot for Duvall if the team doesn't bring back Ozuna, but Duvall has shown his plus defense shouldn't be wasted on just a DH role.
It will be interesting to see how Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos views Duvall down the road and if he's more willing to part with one of the Braves top prospects if he determines that Duvall is the guy for a starting OF spot.
