Ozzie Albies' knee better than expected, could return as early as Friday

When Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies had to be carried off the field after fouling a ball of his knee, there was serious concern he could be out for a while.

The first batch of good news was delivered postgame on Tuesday when the Braves announced that Albies' X-Ray was negative.


On Wednesday before the final game of the Braves-Dodgers series manager Brian Snitker delivered another positive update.

You want to be able to get the function back. The kneecap is protection for the entire joint of the knee and when it gets hit it swells up quickly. It heals quickly, but it's exceptionally painful. He couldn't put any weight on it, he's very lucky. Everything looks good for Albies now, it's a matter of getting the swelling down, getting function back, and having full range of motion.
