The Atlanta Braves got off to a great start in March/April, racing out as the team to beat in the National League, but the month of May was a little bit less flattering to their World Series prospects.
The Braves opened the year going 18-9 in the first month of the season, but in May they were just 15-14 and have been caught record-wise by both the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
What changed and how can the Braves return to the form they showed in April? That's the question that Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael tried to answer.
One of the bigger steps backwards has been on the offensive side of things, where the Braves scored 7 or more runs only six times in May (while playing 2 extra games) after doing in nine times in April.
The Braves also had some issues stringing together wins in May, with their longest winning streak being just three games (although they did win 6 of 7 at one point), while in April they put together a stretch where they won 8-striaght games and another separate winning streak of 4 games.
The Braves have a chance immediately to re-introduce themselves as NL favorites if they can handle their business in the opening series of June as they visit the NL West-leading (tied with Dodgers) Arizona Diamondbacks for a 3-game weekend set.
