In total, it took the Braves five hours and 38 minutes to pick up a 4-2 win over the Phillies thanks to a walk off two run home run by Marcel Ozuna, which came after a two hour and 45 minute rain delay and two extra innings. And while the victory allowed the Braves to earn their third win of the season, more importantly, they were able to take two of three from their division rival.

“Facing what they’re facing, this what you have to do, you have to start winning series. You have to start stacking series,” Rusty Mansell said on Friday as he shared with Steak Shapiro and Mike Johnson why he believes the Braves’ win was more significant in how they can work their way back into title contention conversations.

Currently sitting at 3-9, the Braves will head out for a six-game road trip, beginning in Tampa for a three-game series with the Rays, followed by a three straight against the Blue Jays before returning to Truist Park for a six game homestand. And to Mansell’s point, continuing with a trend of winning two of three in the next four series, could see the Braves jump from six games below .500 to just two below the mark.

“Just keep chopping wood and keep knocking down series,” Mansell added.
