The Atlanta Braves begin an enormous series at home vs the NL leading Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves are currently seven games behind Philly for the division lead and have seven games remaining versus their rivals. Atlanta is coming off a 6-4 road trip while Philadelphia has gone just 5-5 in their last ten games.
The Phillies have had a stranglehold on the division for essentially the entire season. The Braves have been inconsistent all year long and have sustained numerous injuries that have hampered the club with the latest being Austin Riley expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a right hand fracture. The team will call upon Reynaldo Lopez fresh off the injured list to start the series Tuesday night.
The Braves are currently one of the three NL Wild Card teams but have the Mets and Cardinals on their heels in the standings. The club needs to put together a winning streak they have yet to compile in 2024 to separate themselves from the pack as well as gain round on Philadelphia.
