Braves have added speed on the bases to compliment HR power

Acuña Jr, Swanson, Harris II provide speed element in front of power bats

The Atlanta Braves (49-34) continue to play the best baseball in the majors, for any team not named the New York Yankees since June 1st.

After tying a franchise record with 21 wins in June, the Braves have started July, just as hot as the Atlanta forecast by winning 5 out of 6, and are staring at a pivotal three game series with the NL East leading NY Mets (51-31) beginning next Monday at Truist Park.

Many factors have contributed to the Braves hot streak over the past month plus, including top notch pitching from the starting rotation and the long ball that the Braves always seem to have ready and waiting, but according 92.9 the Game Braves Insider Grant McCauley, the Braves speedster trio of Acuña, Swanson and Harris cannot be overlooked.

“It’s another dimension for this club, and one they didn’t have at the start of the year” explained Grant to the Morning Show with John and Hugh and asked about the stolen bases the Braves have been swiping during the hot streak.

Grant went on to say, “He’s (Acuña) on pace to steal 35-40 bags, and Dansby is on a twenty plus stolen base pace” when diving into the impressive numbers that are piling up for the Braves leadoff and two-hole hitter.

Lastly, when focusing on Michael Harris II, who bats 9th in the lineup and creates a nightmare for opposing pictures once they get to the second trip through the batting order, Grant pointed out, “we know that speed is a big part of Michael Harris’ game”

The Braves are second in the majors in homers with 126 (Yankees 139) and are currently middle of the pack in stolen bases (15th, 44) but they number has climbed over the past 30 days and will certainly continue to when Ozzie Albies returns to the line up later this summer.
