Can Braves create separation and reestablish NL East dominance?
The 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star break is here and after getting off to one of the best starts of the season, which included being 24 games above .500 and a National League East lead of a 10 and half games, the Atlanta Braves, while still 15 games above .500 and a two-game division lead, Atlanta has struggled of late posting 9-14 record in the month of June and a 6-6 record in July.
“I look at our team and I’m trying to figure out what we are and who we are,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he and cohost Mike Bell discussed Atlanta’s first half performance and the expectation of the Braves once the season resumes after the break. “We got off to such a great start, the Phillies got off to such a terrible start. They fired their manager and then they’ve righted their ship as we have wobbled in June and couldn’t hit to save our lives, they kind of caught up with us,” Dukes said.
“This is going to be a race in the second half,” Dukes continued as he explained why believes regardless of whether or not, Atlanta makes a trade ahead of the deadline, the Braves will more than likely been in a battle for the division title now that the Phillies have closed the gap between themselves and the Braves. “The question becomes, do we revert back to what we saw in June at any point? Are we going to have two or three more bad weeks? Because if we do, that’s when you start to wonder do we have what it takes to finally get back to the World Series because that’s what we were thinking about when the season started,” Dukes said of the Braves.Braves look to redefine their identity after All-Star break
