After finding out that Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider is going to start the season on the injured list and is joining a laundry list of Braves pitchers already on the IL Braves fans are placing the blame on General Manager Alex Anthopoulos for not addressing Atlanta’s need for starting pitching in the offseason before the injuries piled up and again now for still not making any moves now that the injuries to the starting pitching rotation have piled up.
However, earlier today The Morning Shift explained why they think Braves ownership is to blame for Anthopoulos' lack of spending.
“This is a top down thing from the Braves ownership that they do not allow AA [Alex Anthopoulos] to spend the amount of money that he should to put depth on this team, and you’re about to see it hit you first hand.” Beau Morgan said
Beau finished his thought by saying “The problem for me is he is put, and I’m talking about Alex, between a rock and a hard place because he has to manage essentially a cap that other large market teams necessarily don’t have to while also knowing that he has the younger talent but he can’t push them too early because then he has to deal with arbitration and you end up getting into that nightmare, and it’s just a tough place.”
Whatever the reason is for Anthopoulos’ lack of spending the Braves are in desperate need of starting pitching help, and if AA doesn’t go get some, and the team struggles out of the gate again it could be another long year for Braves fans.
