Braves rushed Hurston Waldrep; have to deal with his ups & downs

The future remains bright for Braves right-hander Hurston Waldrep, but his 13th career major league start was one to forget. Waldrep was hit hard by the Pirates, with Ryan O'Hearn leading the charge by launching three home runs, including two off the rookie starter.

Some may argue that Waldrep should not make another major league start at this point, but the Braves appear committed to taking a patient approach. Their decision is driven not only by limited rotation options but also by the understanding that Waldrep is still working his way back after a lengthy recovery from elbow surgery. He made just five rehab appearances before returning, and it's reasonable to expect that he is still regaining both his command and confidence at the major league level.
