MLB is set to introduce several new rules for the 2023 season, mostly as an effort to draw in younger audiences and to shorten games that averaged just over three hours in 2022.

On this morning's Steakhouse with Steak and Sandra, HOF 3rd baseman Chipper Jones says those rule changes have come, in part, because of a generation of parents no longer have the same interest in the game that would influence children.

"Baseball has lost the 30 to 50 year old genre", Chipper told Steak and Sandra this morning. "That is, unfortunately right now, who's raising this generation of young kids."

This drive to try to entice a younger viewing audience has even changed the way that teams are constructed, according to Chipper. "There's certain things about the game that have gotten lost. It's all about homeruns and strikeouts now."
