92.9 The Game Braves insider Joe Patrick joined Dukes & Bell and talked about who is the Braves best hitter, when will Cole Hamels make his debut, and whether Austin Riley finally has come into his own.
When asked if Austin Riley has finally turned the corner.
“What he’s doing now, when you’re talking about spraying the ball around, that’s the sign of a hitter that’s really maturing and is really a confident guy right now at the plate,” Patrick said. “It’s really funny because he was getting a lot of flack early in the season when he wasn’t hitting the ball very well.”
“Every time he’s had to jump levels throughout his career coming up through the minors it’s been a struggle for him as he’s adapted to better quality of competition. So I think that now having gone through his rough patch and gotten through it, now that he’s experienced failure, I think it’s going to help him a lot more going through his career.”
