Ian Anderson's performance in his Braves debut was always going to be a tough act to follow. He threw 6 innings of one-hit ball last week against the Yankees.
In his most recent outing, a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night, Anderson was good for 6 innings while allowing two runs and picking up the win.
92.9 The Game Braves Insider Joe Patrick tells John and Hugh that the difference for Anderson and other Braves prospects is the composure on the mound.
Patrick said Braves manager Brian Snitker "was in awe of a kid that is so young and has such little professional experience at this point in his career being able to handle big situations in both of these starts that he’s made so far this season.”
Patrick told the guys that Anderson grew up a Red Sox fan, and was born in New York. His first two starts coming against the Yankees and Boston was a thrilling situation.
“These have been big games for him from a personal standpoint," Patrick said. "And for him to go in and give the performances that he has, and they have been good, but they haven’t been perfect all the way from start to finish. But in the areas where he’s not perfect, he hasn’t been allowing the game to get away from him. “
Right now Anderson, who has long been considered a future ace of the staff, looks like the real deal, and that's sorely needed for the Braves after Mike Soroka was lost for the season.
