Ian Anderson's much anticipated Spring Training debut didn't go as well as anyone had hoped, in fact quite the opposite. Anderson was touched up for four runs on three hits, two of them HRs, and issued three walks in 1 1/3 innings.

92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves Insider Grant McAuley discussed the outing for Anderson and how he needs to showcase the team can trust him heading into the season if he wants to be the fifth starter.

"It's not what you want to see and Ian's comments afterwards were pretty candid. You need your numbers to look a certain way and right now you really have to show the little things are going right and little things weren't going right yesterday," says Grant McAuley. "Commanding and being able to get ahead of hitters, pitching more aggressively, is something Ian Anderson is searching for."

Ian Anderson is viewed as one of a trio of Braves starters competing for the final open rotation spot along with Michael Soroka and Bryce Elder, with Koby Allard and Jared Shuster as potential wild cards as well.
